Historic salt pans in Tamarin offering a glimpse into traditional salt harvesting.
Les Salines de Tamarin are traditional salt pans that have been in operation for generations, producing some of Mauritius's finest sea salt. Located along the beautiful west coast, the salt pans create a unique landscape of geometric pools that change color with the sun. Salt harvesting here still follows traditional methods, with workers raking the crystallized salt by hand during the dry season.
