Tea Route

The Tea Route Route is an ideal trip to the heart of Mauritius, perfumed with vanilla, tea, and rum.

Three steps make up this route: The Domaine des Aubineaux, Bois Chéri and Domaine Saint Aubin, a perfect way to visit the South of the island through traditions and gastronomy.

Saint Aubin and the Domaine des Aubineaux, are renovated colonial buildings sheltering delicious restaurants, and Bois Chéri overlooks tea fields, close to the famous Grand Bassin.

In addition to the Bois Chéri tea factory, you can visit the former stables of the Domaine des Aubineaux, now transformed into an essential oil distillery. At Saint Aubin, the last stop of the Tea Route in Mauritius, watch the transformation of sugar cane into agricultural rum since 1819 or discover the conversion of the orchid flower into vanilla at Maison de la Vanille.

A few tips by Mauritius Explored:

  • The route can be done one way or another, you don’t need to follow the steps in order
  • The restaurant in Bois Chéri has tea in every dish on the menu, an interesting experience for lunch, with a wonderful view over the tea fields
