The third highest peak in Mauritius, shaped like a thumb pointing to the sky.
Le Pouce, meaning 'The Thumb', is Mauritius's third highest mountain at 812 meters. Its distinctive shape makes it one of the most recognizable peaks on the island. The hike typically takes 2-3 hours to reach the summit, passing through lush vegetation and offering increasingly dramatic views as you climb. From the top, you can see Port Louis, the Moka Range, the northern plains, and on clear days, the neighboring islands. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in places. It's recommended to go with a guide who can share stories about the mountain's history and point out endemic plants and wildlife along the way. On clear days, you can see all the way to the coast and even neighboring islands.
